Staff Picks No. 126
Shared Evening: Dominica Greene + Malcolm-x Betts : Dominica Greene, Garrett Allen, Malcolm-x Betts, GENG PTP, Molly Lieber
Danspace Project
December 11th-13th 2025
New work! A split bill! One night featuring Dominica Greene’s new piece “endlessend”, pondering cycles of life and death, and Malcolm-x Betts’ (co-creator of the astounding TEMPORARY BOYFRIEND at Under the Radar) new work “fly baby fly”, an ode to their late cousin who died of AIDS (if you missed it at CATCH! 80, now's your chance). A bevy of experimental dance icons (Molly Lieber! Garrett Allen!) rounds out what I think will be a sumptuous evening.

Church of St. Mary the Virgin
Friday December 5th 2025
GORGEOUS lineup, GORGEOUS venue. Is it blasphemous to call a church a venue? Maybe. Either way, this selection of performers is proof that curation is, in fact, an art. The last Offerings of the year! Not to miss!

PLEASE Y.S. 12.6.25 : RIGHTQUICK (King Vision Ultra + Yaz Lancaster), Foxes in Fiction, Laura Ortman
Location shared day of after RSVP (Crown Heights)
Saturday December 6th 2025
Monthly music party PLEASE Y.S. teams up with HEAVY HEARTS for a night of amplified violin, ethereal indie pop, and dubby ambient music curated by Yaz Lancaster. Over a year later, Laura Ortman's CATCH 76 electric violin set still makes my brain buzz, and the opportunity to see her play in an intimate setting is quite the exciting one.

3AM Theatre
December 12th-13th 2025
It is no secret that I love dancers that are funny and strange, so this is definitely “to my taste”. I also love wigs and instructional videos. And when musicians that are up to interesting stuff collaborate with dancers that are up to interesting stuff. Um, weird, was this project made just for me?

The Faggots and Their Friends Between Revolutions : Philip Venables, Ted Huffman
Park Ave Armory
December 2nd-14th 2025
Based on the essay of the same name, this kaleidoscopic show features an ensemble of performers share their stories in a cabaret-like spectacle to conjure a world of queer liberation. If you liked Prince Faggot, this show may be for you, not just because both feature the f-slur but because they share a democratic staging of weaving in various queer stories into one big tapestry.

I don't have a clue what this will be — there will be masks, perhaps, and knowing Wonderful Cringe, acts both, well, wonderful and cringey. Cringe positive! Cringe humor! Cringe camp! The artists are ones to trust, be scared of, and revere.

TMT Popup: Circuit Tree : Trey McGee, Marisa Tornello
Target Margin
Saturday December 13th 2025
Target Margin hosts a toy drive, featuring musical performances by TMT staff! Trey McGee presents a "soundscape of reverberant sampling with voice and found objects," while Marisa Tornello offers a "slow descent" into "dissonant, genre-shifting vocal looping." All words I love, at a venue I have developed a debilitating crush on. Plus: a free drink if you bring a toy! THE TRIP TO SUNSET PARK IS WORTH IT I PROMISE.
