Staff Picks No. 162
Love’s Last Letter : Soohyun Jo
A Space Gallery (13 Gratten Street in Brooklyn)
August 30th-31st 2026
Limited to nine visitors per showing, this 60-minute experience unfolds through six letters, photography, painting, QR-accessed natural soundscapes, silence, audience movement, and live voice. The artist, Soohyun Jo, only enters at the final, singing live as the written, visual, and sonic elements converge. Rather than stringing together a single narrative, it is participation that lets the piece accumulate. I'm there on Sunday!

Red Eye NY
Saturday September 5th 2026
High fantasy with drag performers? You needn’t say anything else for this guy to be sold. If this is not to your taste, I am so sorry for the sadness that rules your existence.
*Ugh foot note - Monday starts my “not in NY” period where all my Picks are what I would be doing if I was in NY.

CRAVE by Sarah Kane : Hoi Polloi // Alec Duffy, Steven Leffue, Luke Wisniewski, Leah Del Rosario, Maggie Hoffman, Jonah O’Hara-David, Julian Rozzell, Jr.
East Village Basement
October 9th-24th 2026
Two facts about me:
1. I have been IN a production of a Sarah Kane play (4:48 Psychosis) but I've never seen one.
2. I have NEVER managed to see a Hoi Polloi show before, with many, many regrets.
I was following the suspenseful show reveal on Instagram with bated breath, and will be in attendance early in the run to allow for potential repeat viewings.
Staffer: Blake Bolan
Very Blue Light : Daphne Silbiger, Emily Moler, Isabelle Chirls
The Tank
September 10th-October 4th 2026
Ooooooh something new from the dazzling mind of Daphne Silbiger! I get the sense that this one will have a touch of the mystical with a good dose of “that’s so f@*king real”.
