Joan Jonas returns to Danspace Project to recalibrate and recreate her previous dance-work of the same name, adapted from the fairy tale of the same name. In case you did not know, this is…kind of infamously one of the darker tales the Brothers Grimm ever collected. It is so unique that it merits its own Aarne-Thompson type. So I’m curious! This is the last night of the incredible program of Mabou Mines films that has been showing at Anthology Film Archives. If you can go, YOU SHOULD GO! I went Sunday and was completely blown away. I wish it could be required viewing. Especially for anyone claiming to make experimental performance.
