Tuesday April 21st 2026

Wow, another Paul Pinto music-forward work in the same season? Riches abound. And it’s not only performed by musicians but by…hundreds of pencils? What? You must go and tell us plebs what the fuck is going on!

SHO1B : Leslie Marfil, Brennan Urbi, Kebra Seyoun Charles, Eni Artist Collective, Sean Sekino, Rob Gemaehlich, Annalise Gehling, Laila Rosen, Meena Manoj, Sundari Joseph
Maison Fou

Saturday April 25th 2026

Dancer and choreographer Leslie Marfil joins forces with director Brennan Urbi for a performance fundraiser for Leslie’s O1 visa application—also known as the artist visa—a taxing, expensive process that I am all too familiar with. Leslie is an exceptionally talented artist with a distinct vision of playfulness and effort in performance; it’s always a thrill to watch her limbs snap from bone-free looseness to absolute rigidity. A one-night-only affair, SHO1B features a varied lineup of artists across disciplines, many of whom I have had the privilege of working with.

Practice Space Performance Fundraiser : Lena Engelstein, Angel Acuña Del Villar
SUPR OMEN

Saturday April 11th 2026

“A lottery-style show where participants are randomly selected to enact impromptu performances.” HELLO? A ticket to this not only goes towards funding the next iteration of Practice Space, but immediately puts your name in the hat. Scary! Fun! Let’s have Lena Engelstein host everything!

BrickFlix presents Day of the Catch : Jared Engel, FUMBL (Formerly Unemployed Musicians Baseball League), Toney Brown
Brick Theater
Monday April 13th 2026

Since the beginning of BrickFlix, the series has brought truly unique film-viewing opportunities to The Brick, a delightfully intimate place to watch a movie on a big screen with other cinema fans. PLUS there are always other elements that make the nights memorable. The upcoming BrickFlix sounds like another total treat. I love baseball and tis the season for it, so put on your cute 1915-era baseball pants and a jaunty little cap and come out for Day of the Catch, a quirky retelling of a true baseball tory as a silent film!

?!:New Works : Libby Carr! Jacqueline Scaletta! More more more!
The Brick Theater
April 8th-26th 2026

Too few places offer fast and fiery feats via unhinged and special works in process. Just a few minutes, just a bite! Then onto the next meal: another piece in development. ?! is a potpourri each night at The Brick, and an annual joy to behold. I'm delighted to be seeing work from — in a single night! — Kyra Sims, Gus Mahoney, Sterling Gates, Ian Reid, and Arjun Biju, and I can't wait to also see works from new-to-me names I hope to cherish. This is a cheerleading event, a dive into the unknown, and, afterwards, some social time. I'm going alone! Come say hi to me!

Staffer: Billy McEntee

Last week of shared the first two nights of this incredible multi-night series. Every week, new artists. Every night a different line-up. I swear, you will show up for someone you know and be amazed by a new-to-you artist OR you will not know anyone and have the wildest night you have had in a while OR you will know everyone and feel like you are at home. No matter what, pick a night or two or 10 and go go go! Be open to whatever the hell happens and talk to people about it after. It is one of the most enjoyable things you can do for a very low ticket price in Brooklyn.

LifeWorld
Saturday April 11th 2026

No clue what’s going on here— the marketing, including photos of handstands in the grocery store, is deliciously vague— but I trust Bella Thorpe-Woods.

Kaye Playhouse
Thursday April 23rd 2026

This Rumi-inspired evening of music and performance is not to be missed. The sheer brilliance of the musicians who’ve come together for this is enough to make you learn to teleport right into the Kaye Playhouse. This is exactly the kind of show that I encourage my theater-heads to attend, to be reminded of what it is to experience stunning performance and exquisite technique.
