The Passion of Mr. Cardboard : Miles Calderon
The Tank
Tuesday April 21st 2026
I think…I think this a clown show about a cardboard messiah. I cannot say otherwise. I have heard from many trusted sources that this will be very funny. Kyrie Eleison.

73 Seconds : Jared Mezzocchi, Aya Ogawa
Lower Eastside Girls Club
April 29th-May18th 2026
I love when an artist I think I know does something different; in this case, it is director Jared Mezzocchi stepping into the spotlight. Analogue tools, a live documentary, a new venue with a 64-seat dome built for stargazing, an old story about mothers and sons. I'm scared of where this play may take me, and so I very much must go.
Staffer: Billy McEntee
This looks so cool. Period.

Church of St. Mary the Virgin
Friday April 17th 2026
Feeling out of the loop on what’s most immediately hot in the performance world? Feeling like it’s been too long since you’ve been to a run-into-everyone-and-their-mother function? Make your way to Times Square for this month’s Offerings. It’s never not the place to be.

What Ever Happened To Baby Jane : Zoe Morris, Veronica Moonhill, Ian McPherson, Nessa Norich, Nat Moonhill
The Collapsable Hole
April 30th-May 2nd 2026
I love going to anything that happens at The Collapsable Hole because it would not be happening if one of the incredible artists that run the space did not want it to be happening. So, when I heard about this show, I was like - it’s a Pick!
Plus, who doesn’t love a film to stage adaptation?
Plus, who doesn’t love this particular film?
Plus, if people actually go to theater in LA, it must have legs, as they say in the biz.

Reremember : Suzanne Bocanegra
Roulette
Thursday April 30th 2026
Suzanne Bocanegra has been doing these performance experiments consisting of “artist lectures” inspired by works of classical art and reimagining them in unusual, fascinating ways. REREMEMBER is a similar project in line with these works, a “translation” of peasant fabric into a musical performance/installation. Bocanegra’s brain works in mysterious ways with outstanding results, and who knows when she’ll do one of the artist lecture series again…tickets are a decent $30.

Seed Meditation : Jemila MacEwan
Washington Square Park, from dawn to dusk
10 days but website does not say what days - Staff Picker Joshua Dumas’ Pick says it goes to April 18th
Now in its third yearly practice, Jemila MacEwan's "Seed Meditation" is a gorgeous, soothing, celebratory, contemplative, ten-day, durational performance in Washington Square Park, through April 18th. MacEwan clasps a turtle bean seed in a small dish of water, and sits from dawn-to-dusk while it germinates. And she invites the public to meditate with her. It is so beautiful and vital. In a noisy age, quiet is a kind of radical resistance. In a violent age, to be in focused contemplation upon the earliest stirrings of life is a kind of counter-proposal. It is super moving to share in that presencing. Come through!

Cutelab (DM for address)
Saturday April 25th 2026
Shiloh Blue is prolific. What I mean by this is: every two weeks, I get the chance to Staff Pick Shiloh Blue. Do I do it? No, because I’d risk my credibility by picking the same artist that often. Do I wish I could? Yes. This week, I indulge this desire. I owe about 35% of my artistic output to Shiloh’s work as noise musician and sound artist. Shiloh shocks and unnerves. She also makes you giggle. Basically, she’s everything. Thank me later.

Isa Nicdao’s NY Neo-Futurists Debut @ The Infinite Wrench : Isa Nicdao
The Second City
April 24th-25th 2026
I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!!!!!!! My cherished collaborator and longtime friend Isa Nicdao is premiering as a New York Neo-Futurist in the Infinite Wrench April 24th and 25th, and here I am, taking out an ad in the paper to spread the good word. (You may know them from obliterating their phone with a hammer at showbabies.) It’ll only be so long before everyone claims they knew Isa before they Blew Up In A Major Way, and I will be thoroughly investigating every person who says so. Get in there!

I’ve Got The Shakes: Performing Richard Foreman Book Launch: Shauna Kelly, Christina Campanella, Juliana Francis Kelly, Colleen Worthmann, Frank Boudreaux, Theresa Buchheister
The Collapsable Hole
Tuesday April 21st 2026
Ok, total bias alert. I am helping with this event because I am one of the people Shauna Kelly interviewed for this book. But I gotta say, it is a great book! I ripped through it and found so much inspiration in it… Shauna interviewed Foreman for several years, as well as a bunch of people who did shows with him in a variety of capacities. Foreman was always trying to get people to wake up. I try to wake up every day.
