La MaMa
November 14th-16th, 2026
If I had a nickel for every puppet-forward show with rats directed by Sammy Zeisel and designed by Gaby FeBland, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but…seriously, go see this rat puppet pageant playing as part of La MaMa’s annual puppet festival, co-pro’d with legendary D.C. theater Spooky Action! Three performances only! (and our own Ethan Eva Karas is associate directing this shebang!). An earlier pick because it’s - as I said - 3 performances only!!!

Target Margin Theater
October 29th-November 14th, 2026
Freshly minted Two Sisters Theater (the new name of the company producing the works of playwrights Emma Horwitz and Bailey Williams) is bringing a new work to Target Margin! i didn't need to read a single thing beyond "Emma Horwitz" to book my ticket. Now that I HAVE read the description, I'm excited for this tale about "the tragic impossibilities of being fully recognized."
Lucky for you, they've added two matinees to their sold out run - get your tickets while the getting is good!

Emma Horwitz is one of our great funny writers, and her company (co-run with equally funny Bailey Williams) Two Sisters lands at Target Margin with a new show about a woman who falls out a window whilst (*looks for a euphemism*) masturbating. And it’s a MYSTERY? I will be there 11/6, join me in these merry revels. (Warnings: tickets WILL sell out. Get on that.)

1328 Bergen St, Brooklyn (A Townhouse)
October 22nd-25th and October 29th and 30th (remaining), 2026
A site specific show about a group of artist in 1930's Berlin as fascism starts to take hold around them. In Tony Kushner's original script, he is responding directly to Regan's America. This production uses our current administration to make direct parallels to Hitlers budding nazi Germany. You leave this piece feeling sympathy for each of the characters and the decisions they make as they navigate the horrors around them but the larger question that you are left with is, what are you currently doing about the horrors happening today?

A show about a Halloween strangler and a mysterious best customer with magic and comedy? I don’t think you need me to tell you to go. But go, I will tell you, to the Tank’s last fall Core pro.

There are many reasons to love the work of Marcellus Louise, including but not limited to his Easter Monday drag act as Garfield Jesus, a handcrafted headpiece of hormone injection needles and vials, and a recent Instagram story where they wrote "WE CAN'T ALL BE USING AI TO RECREATE THE VOICE OF OUR DEAD FATHER FOR PEOPLE TO LIP SYNC TO - SOMEBODY'S GOTTA FIND HIS OLD YOUTUBE VIDEOS AND CHOP THEM UP BY HAND." I am also a big fan of Jack Ventimilia and Eli Wassertzug, and am very, very happy about all of these people working together.

October 26th - November 14th, 2026
I saw a Good Apples Collective developmental reading of The Morbs in 2024, and WOW did I cry hard. The Morbs rocks. At just the right dose of get-under-your-skin unsettling, it is a tense, claustrophobic, and vigorously efficient play, but it is also so, so sad. This is an especially tough one if you have loved anyone with Alzheimer's or dementia, and if that is the case for you, I think it's an additional reason to see it.
